Calling? That would imply that Akaya knew what he would be doing in advance. Every other part of his life was planned out meticulously. He was actually quite responsible in that respect, not just because it paid the bills, but because he had the ambition to make things happen. The competition out there was intense for bands like theirs. You had to work twice as hard as everyone else to stand out.

And so with his personal life -- things tended to take a more mellow route. And besides which, he was well aware of his own appeal, and there was no need to waste all that time and effort into a sure thing.

Omi didn't look pleased, but Akaya was not concerned.
