If Kuranosuke ever met Jaeha outside the club, he might learn that his manner was a reason for his job choice, not a product of it. Such an opportunity didn't seem likely to Jaeha given the man's antisocial tendencies, which was a shame. He was quite a pretty one, for all his scowling refusal to enjoy himself.

"There are always things you can think of that 'should' be done," Jaeha said. The real question was whether you could acknowledge you'd done everything that 'had to be' and call it good for a while. To be here now, he must have hit that balance for the time being, but somehow Jaeha suspected Kuranosuke's infrequent visits were not simply a matter of relaxing in other places.

There was always a list of should-dos, of course. Kenya would tell him that that list was actually just a bunch of excuses. Kuranosuke secretly knew that Kenya was half right, which was why he allowed himself to be dragged out on occasion, just to prove him wrong.

"I could say the same about you," Kuranosuke said, narrowing his eyes with curious scrutiny. Shouldn't he pay more attention to someone else? Surely this sort of banter was lost on a customer like Kuranosuke. If it was a bigger tip the guy was looking for, he needn't bother. Kuranosuke always left a decent amount, regardless of service quality.

Ah, how chilly! It was almost as though he didn't want to talk with him. That was as far as Jaeha took such a thought, however, as he was a stubborn, nosy and sometimes even overly friendly sort. And vain. Jaeha refused to believe for even a second that someone could genuinely not want his amazing company.

"I'm not sure what your point is; I'm practicing exactly what I preach," he answered with a smile. Work was an inevitable evil, but there wasn't anything that had to be done right that minute, which meant it was fine and even encouraged for him to relax and socialize with the clubbers. It was one of the things that made the job bearable.

The bartender was a stubbornly social type, apparently. Kuranosuke would have rolled his eyes, if that was the sort of thing he did. If the guy wanted to waste his time being a chatty idiot, then Kuranosuke wasn't going to waste his getting annoyed.

"Suit yourself," he muttered. If it suited the guy to continue the conversation, he would have to make a little more effort.
