[The ruckus between the two alerts Chibita, who seems to have been suffering through a slow day at his cart. He frowns, reaching up a hand to shield his eyes from the sun when he sees Karamatsu chasing...a girl?
...well, okay, that’s...not the most unusual thing he’s ever seen one of the Matsuno brothers doing. He just didn’t think Karamatsu was that desperate yet.]
[Aya is merciless in her self-proclaimed contest and doesn't stop until she's tagged the edge of the cart with her palm.]
Yay! I won! You're too slow~!
[She says as she spins around and playfully sticks out her tongue, pulling an eyelid down with her pinky at the same time. It seems to have boosted her spirits considerably, though, and she turns to address the cart owner.]
[Chibita gapes at Aya for just a moment before he nods, grabbing up his ladle and two plates in his other hand. As Karamatsu comes stumbling up, he gives him quite the look before immediately getting to work on getting the two set up. Normally he’d loudly cajole his friend, but he’s never seen this girl before, nor can he fathom what Karaboy is doing with her.
Karamatsu’s glad for it, especially since he’s still panting a little as he moves to slide into the bench seat at the front of the cart.]
Hah...well...I would have been a formidable opponent, should...should prior warning have been given…
[Aya says this lightly as she slides in from the other side, keeping a comfortable, friendly distance from Karamatsu. She introduces herself to the chef and spends a couple of minutes chatting him up-- Karamatsu said you had the best oden anywhere, how long have you been a restaurant owner, how did you get into oden-- and as the plate comes before her she stops to give thanks and take her first bite.]
Ahhhh, this really is good! You sure do know good oden when you taste it, Matsuno-san.
[Chibita is completely thrilled- as well as still pretty stunned- by meeting someone so enthusiastic about asking him about his trade. Karamatsu almost gives him a look to tell him to give it a rest already before Aya is talking to him again, prompting him to sit up a bit straighter and reach for his own plate.]
There is none finer, as you have already seen. Please, eat as much as you would like.
[He'll have Chibita put his half on his tab, anyway.]
[Aya is just being sociable with Chibita, though it definitely helps that she's something of a foodie to begin with, so it's easy to be interested in cuisine. But she doesn't want to ignore the person who invited her, either, at whom she grins enthusiastically.]
Yeah! I'll definitely be filling my stomach here.
[Not that she construes his statement as any sort of offer. Aya has already made clear she's paying for her food herself.]
Ah- well, Chibita and I have been friends since we were children! I have known about his Oden since he first opened this cart.
[And of course, that means he's had to deal with the Matsunos for years and years...Karamatsu leaves out the part that they were all pretty hellish as kids, but they can't be blamed for that, can they?]

Chibita comments from his side of the stand as he stirs the broth, causing Karamatsu to shake his head a little as he pulls his plate a bit closer to himself.]
I am considerably more matured than I was as a child.
[Aya can't quite help bursting into giggles. The oden cart tender was such a character!]

[Aya is curious to see how he perceives himself and his personal development. What areas did he see as needing improvement...and how successful has he been, based on current observation?]
Well...I suppose you could say I was a bit of a follower as a child. I tended to go along with whatever my brothers were doing...but nowadays, I am the natural leader.
[Chibita rolls his eyes, but he doesn't interrupt again.]
[It's a quiet, momentarily subdued agreement. She and Ran had gotten along pretty well most of the time. Of course there were stupid fights every once in a while, but with or without them, remembering her own brother isn't a good thing to dwell on here. She pushes the thought away and puts a smile back on her face.]
That's true. Probably true of any two people who live together. I think it's impossible to agree with someone all the time on everything.
[Karamatsu nods, moving to prop his elbow up on the space of the cart in front of himself. He doesn't seem to catch onto her quiet response as being a little bit sad.
Unfortunately, the way he continues the conversation isn't the best either.]
[She should have seen that question coming. Of course, it's only natural to ask back-- the most sociable response, really. Express interest in learning more about the other person. Thankfully, this isn't the first time she's encountered the question, so it's not as painful or awkward as it could be.]
I have a brother, too-- just one in my case. We don't really keep in touch, though.
