At the question, he flashes an awkward grin.
"Coming to try to get my wearable... Lucky thing I'm an airhead, huh?"
no subject
"Do you normally come charging in like that? He could've had a gun..."
no subject
"I know he could've! Why do you think I watched until he was out of sight? I..." He wasn't answering the question. He grimaces.
"In the moment, I wasn't thinking about stuff like that. I saw him push you to the ground and everything just. Happened..."
no subject
"That's very noble of you. Stupid, but noble."
no subject
"Yeah... It was. Stupid, I mean." But he can't quite say he regrets being that flavor of stupid.
"So my turn: what were you doing still here? You know it's like 1 in the morning right? Just because I was optimistic enough to come out here on the chance you'd be here doesn't mean you should've proved it right."
no subject
What else would he be doing at the studio at this hour?
"These edits don't get done by themselves."

Besides, he finds it odd coming from someone who came all the way out here at 1am to fetch his wearable. Or is being up at this hour a strange thing only if one is working?
The flickering blue and red lights indicate the arrival of the police, finally. Mizuki feels that slightly jittery sensation again, as he remembers why they were waiting here in the first place.

The officer takes down notes of both their accounts while two others scour the location for bits of evidence-- including a scrape of Rasu's shoe. By the time they're free to go, it's after 2, and Rasu at least is ready to crash. He'd been about to go to bed when he remembered the wearable and it's only gotten later since.
"How far is your commute?" He asks. Not that it's going to make a difference to whether he carries out his earlier offer. He's just curious.
no subject
"Is that out of your way...?"
no subject
"That's not too bad for a commute. Always nice when you don't have to travel far to work." Some people had pretty awful ones, easily exceeding an hour.
no subject
"I will pay for your fare, of course," he says as they make their way out of the studio lot and turn toward the rail station down the block.
no subject
"You don't have to be so formal! It's cool, I don't mind the fare. It's worth it." Easily.
"Although, I might beg for a bit of lenience if my feet fail to get the rest of me out of bed in the morning."
no subject
He himself, will be there first thing. Not only because he's the director and has to oversee everything, but also because it's his way of getting over a trauma. It happens after break-ups, too. Some of his most productive times are after relationships end. He dives into the work and forgets everything else. Or tries to.
They reach the station and his feel automatically take them in the direction of his platform, up the east ramp.
no subject
"Well that's very flexible of you. Much obliged."
It's a welcomed permission, too. Especially with his alarm getting left in the studio-- ironic after that special trip out so late at night just to try to get it back. But there were more important things to deal with.
He follows Mizuki up the ramp.
"I don't suppose you'll be doing the same for yourself?"
no subject
"...what will you do with your morning off?"
What does Rasu do with his time off? He's not certain they really talked about such things in their date-gone-wrong.
no subject
"Sleep?" Rasu offered with a laugh, but he knows his extra time in bed will be more limited than he wishes, and shrugs.
"I'll probably take my dog for a run, get some breakfast and practice. I haven't done anything with my bo in a while-- I don't wanna get rusty."
no subject
"That sounds rather vigorous.." he says, for lack of a better word. "Is this the sort of thing that comes back to you, with practice?"
no subject
"I think it's fun. It'll come back quick. You ever do anything like that? I mean not martial arts, obviously, but running, weights, stuff like that?"
Mizuki clearly keeps a trim form, but that's possibly just from a lean diet. He does have a rather tight schedule, so Rasu doesn't imagine there's much physical activity going on for the sake of leisure-- and perhaps not even much for the sake of exercise.
no subject
"I play tennis, sometimes." He likes the sport. It's energizing, classy, strategic. An elegant sort of exercise, he thinks.
"But I haven't been on a court in a while."
no subject
no subject
"Do you play?"
no subject
"Never tried!" He exclaims with a laugh. "I could see myself having fun with it, though. What do you like about it?"
no subject
"I can show you how to play sometime, if you like," he finds himself saying.
no subject
"Sure, I'd love to! Lemme know when would be a good time for you... I know how busy you are." Briefly, Rasu felt a fleeting worry about completely embarrassing himself again on the tennis court, like he did with the glass of water, but excitement over the chance to try something new with a friend buried the thought within seconds.
